The TAX FREE Weekend for Back to School Supplies is this weekend, August 1st, 2014.
Take advantage of savings this weekend and stock up not just for yourself, but for the children in need in our area. The savings is for traditional supplies like pens and paper to diapers and clothing, even some sports equipment like baseball cleats.
Our Beachy Beach Destin Real Estate office will be a drop off location for Back to School Supplies for kids at Shelter House from now until August 11th.
The 2014 Back to School Tax Free holiday starts in Florida on Friday, August 1st at 12:01 A.M. It ends on Sunday, August 3rd.
According to the Florida Department of Revenue, these clothing and accessory items that have selling price of $100 or less are exempt from tax during this time period:
Accessories Barrettes and bobby pins Belt buckles Bowties Hairnets, bows, clips, and hairbands
Handbags Neckwear Ponytail holders Scarves Ties Wallets
Aerobic/Fitness clothing -Aprons/Clothing shields
Athletic supporters -Baby clothes -Backpacks -Bandanas -Baseball cleats
Bathing suits, caps, and cover-ups -Belts -Bibs -Blouses -Book bags -Boots (except ski boots)
Bowling shoes (purchased) -Braces and supports worn to correct or alleviate a physical incapacity or injury*
Bras -Caps and hats -Choir and altar clothing* -Cleated and spiked shoes
Clerical vestments* -Coats and wraps -Coin purses -Costumes -Coveralls
Diaper bags -Diapers, diaper inserts (adult and baby, cloth or disposable)
Dresses -Employee uniforms -Fanny packs -Fishing vests (nonflotation)

According to the Florida Department of Revenue, the following school supplies are tax-exempt as long as they have a selling price of $15 or less: -Binders -Calculators -Cellophane (transparent) tape -Colored pencils -Compasses -Composition books -Computer disks (blank CDs only) -Construction paper -Crayons -Erasers -Folders -Glue (stick and liquid) -Highlighters -Legal pads -Lunch boxes -Markers -Notebooks -Paste -Pencils, including mechanical and refills -Pens, including felt, ballpoint, fountain, highlighters, and refills -Poster board -Poster paper -Protractors -Rulers -Scissors -Notebook Filler Paper Electronics are eligible again for tax-free shopping.
